Oh how the times have changed…
Roughly 80 per cent of Canadians now shop online, and with the holidays right around the corner it’s poised to be another record-breaking season for Canada Post. The country’s primary postal operator delivers two out of every three online orders in Canada and expects to see exponential growth in November and December.
Over the next six weeks or so, Canada Post estimates that it will deliver seven-million packages compared to last year. This includes more than three million packages every Sunday as the company extends it’s retail hours to begin delivering on weekends in major urban centres later this month.
Dec. 12, which is a Monday, is expected to be the busiest delivery day of the year, with 3,500 parcels expected to be delivered every minute.
A service is also being offered this year called The Canada Post Mom Squad. Six busy moms will be offering behind-the-scene glimpses of our operations, talking about online shopping, featuring gift ideas from retailers, and sharing holiday shopping tips.
All six moms are Canada Post employees and all have multiple kids under the age of 13.
