So, the Ottawa Senators didn't win the Stanley Cup.
But Canadians can find some solace in the fact that major players, who took their team to the finals, were born-and-bred Canadians.
The obvious one, for starters, Sidney Crosby. Born and raised in Coal Harbour, Nova Scotia, no amount of concussions seemed to keep him off the ice.
Even closer to home, there are four players from British Columbia who made it to the Stanley Cup finals this year.
Colton Sissons
Born in North Vancouver, Colton Sissons played junior hockey at 16 with the West Kelowna Warriors. He then played for the Kelowna Rockets. In 2013, he played his first NHL season with the Nashville Predators, where he still plays and helped bring the Predators to their first ever Stanley Cup finals. Sissons scored a hat trick in game six of the previous series to send the Anaheim Ducks to the golf course and the Preds onto the cup finals.

Born and raised in Kelowna, Justin Schultz was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in February 2016 from the Edmonton Oilers. He went on to win the Stanley Cup with the Penguins last year.
Many are calling this past season the turnaround season of his career.
He also played for the West Kelowna Warriors.
Ryan Johansen
After getting treated for acute compartment syndrome on his left thigh this May, Ryan Johansen is expected to make a full recovery, but he won't be able to play in the finals.
Originally from Port Moody, Johansen's been playing for the Nashville Predators since 2015.
At the start of his career, Johnasen played for the Penticton Vees and moved up the ranks to the WHL's Portland Winterhawks and eventually, full-time in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012. He was traded to the Preds during the 2015-2016 season for Seth Jones.
His brother, Lucas, played for the Kelowna Rockets and may one day play against Ryan as a member of the Washington Capitals.

There must be something special about Nashville, to have so many B.C. boys on one team.
This is Matt Irwin's first season with the Nashville Predators. An island boy from Victoria, Irwin started his hockey career by playing for the Nanaimo Clippers and has bounced around the AHL and NHL since 2009.
What about you? Who is your favourite B.C.-born or Canadian hockey player?
