Cases of vibrant, rainbow-coloured Bud Light cans are hitting shelves in Ontario in support of LGBTQ+ communities next month.
Bud Light Canada has paired up with Rainbow Railroad, a human rights and charity based out of Canada, to deliver the new dazzling cans that adopt the rainbow colours in celebration of Pride.
In addition, they have highlighted the letters "L," "G," "B" and "T" on their can to emphasize the cause that they stand behind.
The Canadian beer company branch pledged up to $100K to support Railroad's mandate of supporting persecuted LGBTQ+ people around the world to flee state-sanctioned persecution, receive much-needed resources and escape harassment and violence.
Bud Light says they will donate up to $1.45 to Rainbow Railroad for every limited edition case purchased to help support their initiative, which has been in action since 2006.
"We are so proud and inspired to partner with Labatt this Pride season on a stunning rainbow can," said Executive Director Kimahli Powell. "It's generous support like this that makes our lifesaving work possible. And that support is needed more than ever before."
"In 2018, we helped almost 200 people travel from fear to freedom," says Powell. "But what we remain focused on is the people we can't help because of lack of funds. Already in 2019, we've had more than 1,000 requests for help, putting us on track to more than double the number of requests last year."
The company said on Facebook that the cans will be available at select LCBOs (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) in June.
Bud Light will continue adding new Pride-based initiatives throughout June, including participating in the Pride parade in Toronto.
