It’s been a good 12 months for the Tories.
The Conservative Party of Canada said today it “broke all fundraising records for any political party in Canadian history” in 2023.
It raised $35.2 million, including $11.9 million between October and December.
In December alone, the party brought in $7.08 million.
The party received more than 200,000 donations in 2023.
The previous fundraising record for a non-election year was $24.2 million, set by the Conservatives in 2018.
The Liberals brought in $15.6 million in 2023, up from $15 million in 2022.
Their partners in government, the NDP, also saw a small boost – from $6.2 million in 2022 to $6.8 million in 2023.
“These results prove support for my common sense plan to axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget and stop the crime,” said Tory leader Pierre Poilievre.
It comes as the Conservatives ride high in the polls and the Trudeau Liberals suffer an apparent decline in popularity.
“It couldn’t be more clear that Canadians want change,” the Conservatives said in a statement announcing the fundraising news.
