Do you know someone that's truly deserving of some extra kindness this holiday season? Perhaps, it is someone who motivates others to do their best, or it may be someone that has had a tough year and needs a little extra love.
This holiday season, take the time to celebrate and recognize those people that inspire, support, and go above and beyond, with the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society Christmas Kindness Campaign. Put down the wrapping paper and spend just five minutes of your day nominating someone that you believe deserves to be rewarded for their greatness.
The Okanagan Wine Festivals Society represents 120 member wineries and each winery is putting together a special hamper for the Christmas Kindness Campaign. The 120 hampers will then be given to members of the community, as nominated by you.
"The people we are looking to recognize are those who give to their communities all year long. We would like to take this opportunity to give back to them and let them know that their hard work and thoughtfulness doesn't go unnoticed," said Richelle Hasenhuendl, Administrator for Okanagan Wine Festivals. "We believe strongly in giving back to the community who has supported us for the last 35 years."
People may be nominated regardless of their economic situation; nominees may include a coach or manager who has gone above and beyond for his/her team, a family who has gone through the medical system, or even a local volunteer who has worked tirelessly for their organization. You can nominate a single mom, a co-worker, your yoga instructor - anyone that you feel deserves to receive some extra holiday cheer this Christmas.
"We live in an affluent city, in a country that values inclusiveness, and there is a wonderful spirit of sharing at this time of year," explained Blair Baldwin, General Manager of Okanagan Wine Festivals. The Christmas Kindness Campaign allows the you to share your gratitude with the amazing people in the community.
With the support of KelownaNow, the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society invites you to write into KelownaNow with a few sentences outlining why you feel your nominee is deserving of this special holiday surprise. The Okanagan Wine Festivals Society will then choose 120 nominees from all entries and present the hampers to the selected* people on Wednesday, December 9th at a time and place to be arranged. Nominations for the Christmas Kindness Campaign will be accepted until Thursday, December 3rd at 4:00 pm, so get them in as soon as you can!
