3 creative video marketing ideas (with examples)

A creative approach to video needs to be a part of your marketing strategy. Trust us.

Or, better yet, trust the numbers.

Every minute, 3.67 million videos are watched on YouTube and 167 million are watched on Tik Tok. And, in any given minute there are 44 million people viewing Facebook live streams.

And speaking of minutes—the average person spends at least 100 minutes per day watching online videos.

Given how much video content is out there, it’s important to find a way to make video that stands out.

Here are three creative ways we’ve seen businesses use video to build awareness, generate leads, and drive sales.

Align crowd-pleasing content with your key messages

The most important thing you can do when developing a video marketing strategy is to identify what types of content your audience actually wants to watch.

Sure, you can make a video where executives or team members speak about the history of your business, and talk about why people should work with or buy from you. And those kinds of videos do have their time and place.

But given that 73% of people say they want to see “entertaining” videos on social media, it’s not a bad idea to see if you can create video content that will incentivize people to watch.

Example

We put together a “streeter” style video for Lakeshore Vein & Aesthetics Clinic where we asked Kelowna residents if they’d ever heard of “RBF,” and the resulting product was…well, we’ll let you watch for yourself!

Use Reels and Tik Tok videos to increase your reach

Creating on Tik Tok and/or Instagram Reels is a great way to make lighthearted short-form videos that increase your reach and engagement.

And if your target audience includes people under the age of 35, these platforms are an especially good investment. 43.7% of Tik Tok users are 18-24 years old, and 33.1% of people on Instagram are 25-34. Creating this type of content is an effective way to build awareness among younger customers/clients, and can also be a great tool for recruiting talent.

The best way to understand how Tik Tok and Reels work is to start consuming content yourself! Once you start flipping through your feed, it won’t take long before you get an idea of what works and what doesn’t.

If you see a trending audio clip that inspires you, you can add it to your favourites (Tik Tok) or save it (Reels) for later use!

Examples

Strut Footwear, a local business we work with, uses Reels to showcase their products and make far-reaching content that stands out in their audience’s feed.

It would be a missed opportunity if we didn’t take this chance to show off one of the Reels we’ve made for our agency!

PS: If you like that Reel and/or this blog, you’ll definitely love following us on Instagram.

Appeal to your target audience through educational content

According to Wyzowl, 96% of people have watched an educational or explainer video to better understand or learn about a product or service.

Educational videos are a powerful tool when it comes to generating leads, driving online sales and/or increasing foot traffic to your brick and mortar.

Example

Educational videos can take the form of product explanations, “what to expect” guides, or tutorials laying out how to use your product.

Or, you can take inspiration from Chances Casino and create educational content that answers a question your target audience is likely to have!
