CHBA Tommie Awards gearing up for 27th year

There is so much to celebrate when it comes to the Okanagan. The wine, the harvest, the geography and of course, the impressive homes and developments that fill each nook and cranny.

With the change of weather putting a slight damper on enjoying the latter three, now is the time to recognize the impressive interiors and exteriors of the buildings that occupy the Okanagan with the return of the Canadian Home Builders Association (CHBA) Tommie Awards.

This year will mark the CHBA’s 27th time hosting the prestigious awards that will not only recognize the excellence of Central Okanagan home builders in 40 different categories but offer them an award-winning reputation.

“People should enter the Tommie Awards because it’s the symbol of home building excellence throughout the Okanagan,” said Marika Luczi, Executive Officer for the CHBA.

“If you’re a Tommie Award winning builder, developer, renovator, marketer or designer, you’re being recognized for your hard work and dedication to the construction industry. Most Importantly, it shows consumers you’re dedicated and proud of your career, they can trust a Tommie Award winner!” added Luczi.

Once the panel of respected judges reviews each entry, nominees will be narrowed down to three in each category and be recognized for their outstanding work at the Silver Finalists Night on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Once nominees have made the top three, judges will take a closer look at the projects, taking the time to travel and tour some of the show homes before coming to the difficult decision of selecting those excellent enough to earn one of the coveted awards at the Gold Gala on Jan. 19, 2019.

“People can expect a fun, exciting, emotional evening at the Gala. You have 600 people in the industry who come out to celebrate everyone’s wins and enjoy a great year of building,” said Luczi

Hailed as the industry’s party of the year, the gold gala offers attendees a glamorous night of dapper dress, delicious food, and suspense akin to some of Hollywood's biggest awards shows.

Businesses eager to submit their creations for a chance at a coveted Tommie can submit their applications and register for the Silvers through the CHBA website.
