January 2023 commemorates the start of Pushor Mitchell’s 50th year serving our clients and community.

Pushor Mitchell has a long-standing commitment of supporting the community, and the firm is proud to dedicate the same amount of time, effort, attention, and care to the community that is given to clients.
This includes a number of charitable organizations who help those most vulnerable, as well as industry and business organizations. The firm also holds internal ‘fundraising weeks’ that include unique activities such as ‘Pie a Lawyer’ where all proceeds go to charity.
Despite being the largest law firm in BC outside the lower mainland, Pushor Mitchell is ‘client centric’ where the goal is for every client to receive personalized service, practical advice, and effective solutions.
The firm has grown substantially over the years and today has 36 lawyers and over 100 staff. “We built new areas of service if we saw a need” says associate counsel Alf Kempf who joined the firm in 1981.
“We have served some of our clients for decades and can anticipate their needs – they see us as trusted advisors and trust us to get the job done.”
The firm offers services in over 25 areas of law including business, employment, wills and estates, estate litigation, family law, real estate, first nations, commercial litigation and much more.
As a full-service firm, Pushor Mitchell can handle anything from routine to very complex transactions. Some examples include drafting a will, buying a house, complex tax law issues, Canada-US immigration matters, and helping a company go public.
“Having joined the firm in 1979 as an articled student, I have seen much growth and diversification however two things have remained the same – the excellence of service we provide that is second to none, and community is part of our fabric,” says partner Paul Mitchell. “And our best compliment came from a client survey where 99% of respondents said they would recommend our firm. That makes us so proud.”
“One of the privileges of having practiced law for the past 40 years has been the opportunity to work with elected officials and community organizations who were instrumental in shaping the growth of the city,” says Partner Theresa Arsenault.
“Our firm parallels Kelowna in that they are both always looking for ways to make a change for the better. One example is something I am very proud of – my role with Okanagan College and UBC over the past years to improve access to higher education in our city, which has in turn attracted talent to industries such as high tech and medicine.”
