Famous actor Omar El-Sharif has passed away at the age of 83.
Sharif was best known for his role in Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago and, more recently, in the 2004 flick Hidalgo.
The Egyptian born actor began his acting career in 1953 and later made films in Egypt, Europe and the United States.

Sharif married Egyptian actress Faten Hamama in 1954. They had one son, Tarek El-Sharif, who was born in 1957. The couple later divorced. Hamama died on January 17, 2015, also at the age of 83.
Earlier this year it was reported Sharif suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. He died in Cairo, Egypt from an alleged heart attack.
