Two Earthquakes Recorded in Alaska

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake was reported near Anchorage, Alaska late Tuesday night, but luckily there have been no reports of damage.

The earthquake epicenter was reported 230 kilometres southwest of Anchorage according to the U.S. Geological Service. The National Tsunami Warning Center said the quake wasn’t expected to cause a tsunami. A second earthquake was recorded just before 8:00 a.m. UTC on Wednesday southwest of Nikolski, AK., this one 4.7 magnitude.

Aftershocks are expected in the area. There are no reports of damage or injuries as a result of the second earthquake.
