NFL and CFL player arrested together with 157 lbs of marijuana

A pair of professional football players are behind bars after being stopped by border agents with 157 pounds of marijuana.

Greg Robinson, 27, and Jaquan Bray, 26, were charged with possessing marijuana with the intention to sell, as they were also found with glass jars, an electronic scale and $3,100 cash.

The two men, along with an unidentified third party who was not charged, approached the Sierra Blanca Checkpoint Station in El Paso, Texas on Monday night..

A police canine alerted border agents to their vehicle and Bray, who was driving, was asked to park it in a secondary inspection area for further investigation.

That’s when police found the large amount of marijuana inside several large duffel bags in the car’s trunk.

Officers learned that Robinson had rented the car in Los Angeles on Sunday and had arranged for the third person in the vehicle, an Uber driver he had met in 2018, to drive him and Bray to Louisiana.

When they reached El Paso, Robinson told Bray to begin driving, and when they reached the border checkpoint, he told the Uber driver that he’d pay him to claim the marijuana.

“The third individual refused and told Robinson he/she would not have driven him had he/she known there were drugs in the vehicle,” said a statement from the Department of Justice.

As a result, that individual was released, while Robinson, who played for the Cleveland Browns last season, and Bray, who played for the Montreal Alouettes, were brought into custody.

The case is now under investigation and if Robinson and Bray are convicted, they each face up to 20 years in federal prison.
