Wilden Village and Market Square seeking public input

With Wilden Village and Market Square on its way to becoming Kelowna newest neighbourhood, the developer is seeking public input on the vision of the project.

Wilden Village is aiming to create an “urban destination in nature” as a compact, walkable neighbourhood with natural ponds, parks, and wildlife corridors.

They plan on incorporating a wide array of housing options, from lane homes and townhomes to condos in various sizes. At the centre of the village will be a market square that is meant to be a commercial hub built.

The developer says the square would be built around a “European-inspired plaza.”

The Wilden plaza will be an “urban waterfront and community gathering space.” Outdoor markets, festivals, and events are all envisioned to take place there.

Other planned features of the space include a water fountain, pond-side boardwalk, terraced seating stairs, and turtle nesting islands.

The developer says that, being located 10 minutes from downtown Kelowna and 10 to 15 minutes from the UBC Okanagan campus and the airport, the future neighbourhood provides much-needed urban infrastructure and is well-positioned for a growing city.

The latest plan for Wilden Village and Market Square, featuring an increase in commercial amenities, civic services, and residential density, is being reviewed by the City of Kelowna.

Wilden Village and Market Square will be holding a public information session on Feb. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1454 Rocky Point Dr.

Wilden residents and the public are being invited to voice their opinions and priorities to help shape the vision for the commercial area, housing types, elementary school and amenities within the neighbourhood. For more information and to register for the event, click here.
