The Kelowna Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition featuring extra large pieces of work, titled The Big Picture, until June 25th, 2017. The driving force behind this selection of works is the post-World War II era, which has seen the growth of heroic, modernist paintings.
Each of the 15 pieces of art were chosen due to their dominating size. For example, one piece by artist Wanda Koop takes up an entire wall and measures 13 feet by 9 feet.
Works from Canadian artists such as David Alexander, Pierre Coupey, Cathy Daley, Rose Braun, Wendy Hamlin, Wanda Koop, Jane Everett, Martin Pierce, Vicky Marshall, Gary Pearson, Alan Wood and Bryan Ryley are all featured within the exhibition, with nearly half being Okanagan residents.
To see The Big Picture, visit The Kelowna Art Gallery at 1315 Water Street. Details outlining the exhibit and hours can be found on the Kelowna Art Gallery website.
