A Kelowna-based tech startup has won a $130,000 prize at the first ever OKGN Angel Summit.
Trellis, an online event management platform that allows nonprofits to create and grow their events and campaigns, beat five other finalists to the cash.
They were announced as the winners at an event held in the Innovation Centre in Kelowna.
The OKGN Angel Summit is an investor-led program inspired by the Seattle Angel Conference.
An angel investor pumps capital into a startup, usually at the point where the new company is at its most vulnerable.
Those involved went through an 11-week series of meetings, company reviews, pitches and due diligence for the OKGN Angel Summit.
To take part, startups had to be within half a day’s drive of Kelowna.
They also needed, among other things, “a plan to scale with potential for a 10x return in five years”.
