It appears as though the Vice & Virtue Brewing Co. that Kelowna residents have grown to know and love is in its final days.
The brewery made a surprising announcement on social media this morning, revealing that the business will shut down on Dec. 21 and the current owners will hand over the keys.
After undergoing renovations, the business will reopen under new ownership in early 2025.
Vice & Virtue was an early arrival in Kelowna’s now-bustling North End brewery district, welcoming in the public for the first time in July 2018.
“Since then, we have witnessed the incredible growth of our burgeoning local industry in our own backyard - and it has been nothing less of a privilege to be part of the North End beer and business community,” said the social media post from this morning.
“We are deeply grateful to our patrons, our industry colleagues, and our neighbouring businesses for the support.”
Today’s post didn’t dive into reasons for the sale or hint at what changes are to come under new ownership, but it did urge people to come down and visit before Dec. 21.
“As we see the year out, we’re planning to do it the best way we know how – with great beer, delicious food and warm hospitality,” it said.
“We’ll be open seven days a week until we close, so stay tuned for (social media) updates on farewell specials as we approach our final day.”
KelownaNow has reached out to current ownership and will update this story, or follow up with a new story, when more information about Vice & Virtue’s closure becomes available.
