Five things you need to know

1. New York set to become 1st US state to make declawing cats illegal

On Tuesday, the New york state legislature voted to pass a measure that would make it illegal to declaw your cat. If the state’s governor signs the bill, it would make New York the first state in America to outlaw the practice. It is, however, illegal in some cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver.

2. Proposed ‘Straight Parade’ in Boston met with criticism

It’s pride month, but a proposed ‘Straight Parade’ is receiving plenty of attention right now. However, it’s not good attention. Klay Thompson’s status for the big game is in the air as well.

4. Factory strike could result in a worldwide Nutella shortage

Work has stopped at the Villers-Ecalles factory in Normandy, France as employees demand for better pay and salary negotiations. Normally, it doesn’t seem like news that would have too big of an effect on the rest of the world, but this is one of the world’s largest factories that just so happens to produce 600,000 jars of Nutella per day. You better stock up!

5. Rihanna is the world’s richest female musician

Forbes has released a list of the richest musicians in the world and it’s not Beyoncé who tops the list. Rihanna and her $600-million USD fortune puts her in the top spot, putting her ahead of Madonna, Céline Dion and then finally Beyoncé, who sits in fourth.
