More than 3,000 people have now been killed from coronavirus since the outbreak began at the start of the year. Nearly 90,000 cases have been reported around the world and the World Health Organization warns that the risk of the disease spreading is “very high.”

On the lighter side of the news world, dozens of university students at Penn State gathered on Sunday night for a candlelight vigil for a Taco Bell. The fast-food chain near campus, which was clearly popular with the students, abruptly closed recently.

As the current season of the Bachelor winds down, a new Bachelorette has been announced and it’s not any of the girls that competed to win Peter’s heart. Clare Crawley, who competed on season 18 of the show in 2014, is 38-years-old and is an attempt to settle things down after what was considered a very immature season.

A hostage situation at a mall in the Philippines came to an end today after 10 hours of tense action. Eventually, the 32-year-old hostage-taker emerged from the shopping complex with all 60-70 hostages after his bosses apologized and resigned. There was only one injury during the incident.

The 2020 MLS season began over the weekend as every team got into action. The Vancouver Whitecaps lost to Sporting KC in their opening game, dropping the 3-1 decision at BC Place. It also marked the first ever matches for the league’s two newest teams, Inter Miami FC and Nashville SC, who both lost.
