Start your day off right with five things you need to know this morning.
Five things you need to know
1. Valedictorian banned from speaking at grad takes his speech outside
Christian Bales, an 18-year-old high school valedictorian from Kentucky, was denied permission to speak at the ceremony when his school’s diocese said his speech was too political and inconsistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church. As such, Bales walked across the stage and got his diploma before taking his speech outside, delivering it with a megaphone.

2. The Stanley Cup Final begins tonight
It feels like forever since we’ve had hockey, but it’s only been five days. However, that ends tonight when the 2018 Stanley Cup Final gets going in Las Vegas (wait, what?). The Vegas Golden Knights and Washington Capitals are squaring off, both teams looking for their first cup. Also of note, Lil Jon will perform before tonight’s game.

3. Britain’s annual Cheese Roll happened this morning
It’s a lot riskier than the the name suggests, but Britain’s annual Coopers Hill Cheese Roll took place today in Brockworth, England. Competitors chase a roll of cheese down one of the steeper hills you’ll ever see, with many of them losing their footing early and cartwheeling helplessly after the cheese. There’s even a rugby team on hand to tackle/stop the competitors at the bottom.

When is this bad boy coming to North America? Coca-Cola has launched the first alcoholic beverage in its 132 year history in Japan. There are three flavours, which are salty lemon (7% alcohol), lemon (5%) and honey lemon (3%).

5. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to yet another NBA final
The script is starting to get a little predictable, but once again it’s LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA final. The Cavs advanced to the final after beating the Boston Celtics 87-79 in game 7 of the Eastern Conference final on Sunday. It’s LeBron’s eighth straight NBA final, dating back to his time with Miami. Cleveland will play the winner of game 7 between Golden State and Houston, which goes tonight.
