1. Jolie claims Pitt attacked her and their children on private plane

Angelina Jolie has accused her ex-husband Brad Pitt of drunkly attacking her and their children while on a private jet. Pitt, who is locked in a legal wrangle with Jolie, denies the claims.

2. Asteroid leaves trail of debris after NASA probe smashed into it

A telescope in Chile has captured images of the asteroid that NASA crashed a probe into last week. The photographs show that the asteroid has left a trail of debris in its wake stretching thousands of kilometres.

3. Russia warns US it is increasing risk of 'military clash'

Russia has said the US's decision to send yet more military equipment to Ukraine has increased the risk of a "direct military clash" between the two nuclear powers. Russia's ambassador to the US said the Americans' actions represent an "immediate threat" to Moscow.

4. South Korea apologizes for botched missile launch

The South Korean military has issued an apology after one of its missiles failed to launch during a drill with American forces. Officials said there were no casualties when the weapon exploded and burned up overnight.

5. Activists baffled by Coca-Cola sponsorship of climate convention

Activists have reacted with confusion and disgust after Egypt announced that Coca-Cola will sponsor this year's COP27 UN climate talks. Coca-Cola has long been attacked for its contribution to global plastic pollution.

And lastly...

In happier news, scientists in Spain have announced that a humble worm could be the key to ridding the world of one of the worst forms of plastic pollution. The wax worm's saliva is capable of breaking down polyethylene, according to the researchers.
