A Kelowna-based company has been fined $10,000 after a pair of workers were spotted not wearing safety harnesses properly on a job site in Keremeos.
WorkSafeBC issued the fine on Jan. 17 after the site was inspected.
According to the decision, the two employees were on an elevated work platform installing siding on third floor balconies.
“The workers were wearing fall protection harnesses but were not attached to anchor points as required,” says the decision from WorkSafeBC.
The firm, White Square Developments Inc., reportedly failed to ensure the workers followed the requirements for safety gear.
WorkSafeBC says this is a repeated violation.
In addition, the inspection found that the elevated work platforms were not used in accordance with acceptable safety standards.
The decision says these were both high risk violations, resulting in the multi-thousand dollar fine.
