Police in the BC Interior made a big drug bust recently.
According to RCMP, on March 31, members of the Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit and National Weapons Enforcement Support Team executed a search warrant at the 100 block of Cameron Street in Williams Lake.
As a result of the warrant, 170 grams of suspected fentanyl, 70 grams of crack cocaine, five handguns, seven long guns and currency consistent with drug trafficking were all removed from the streets.
Execution of the warrant came following an investigation that involved numerous officers working from the Williams Lake, Alexis Creek, Quesnel and Northern District General Investigations Section as well as the Forensic Identification Section.
"The CC-CRU is tasked with reducing crime in the Cariboo region through the targeting of those offenders who victimize our communities. In this instance, the removal of 12 firearms, in addition to toxic fentanyl, from the hands of criminals goes a long way toward enhancing public safety in the region," Cpl Kevin Fung.
A total of four arrested were made in connection to the incident. Their names have not yet been released.
More to come.
