RCMP in Sicamous confirmed the death of one person from a snowmobiling incident over the weekend.
They were called to the Queest Mountain Forest Service Road near Sicamous shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday for reports of the accident.
Police were told that the 51-year-old man had been guiding a group of five other snowmobilers when his snowmobile rolled into a creek bed and pinned him underneath.
The rest of the group administered CPR on the man, but they were unable to revive him.
Sicamous RCMP called upon the Shuswap Search and Rescue Team to locate the group and confirm the fatality.
They were then able to guide the other snowmobilers out of the area, but unable to remove the body due to terrain, darkness and weather conditions.
Efforts to do so will continue today.
No further information on this death is being released by the RCMP or coroners service at this time.
