Business Matters EP #168 with Ilona Morrison from Vertical Greens Kelowna from NowMedia on Vimeo.
Morrison has been in Kelowna for about 17 years. She came to Canada after fleeing Hungary, and after a while she noticed all the options available in the country compared to where she was born and raised—where you ate only what you could grow.
“We knew what was on it, how it was grown, where the seeds came from. It was healthy. It was from the plant right to our plate,” she says.
“Coming to Canada made me realize that we have access to all this food, but where is it coming from? What is it being sprayed with? How long did it travel after they actually picked it?”
Morrison goes into how this led her down the path of starting Vertical Greens eight years ago.
Morrison and Cupello also discuss how aeroponic towers differ from traditional gardening, what kinds of things you can grow and more.
