Thursday was record-setting day for British Columbia when it comes to COVID-19.
The province announced 165 new cases of COVID-19, shattering the old daily record by 29.
Once again, however, Interior Health didn’t contribute to the inflated numbers, as only four of those cases came from the region.
It brings IH’s total to 489 since the start of the pandemic.
There are 23 cases currently active in the BC Interior with one person in hospital.
The only outbreak in IH continues to be the Teck Coal Mines, but no IH residents are associated with the outbreak.
In addition, Dr. Bonnie Henry announced a new COVID-19 test available for children today, which is a saline mouth rinse and gargle sample.
The test will be available at Interior Health testing sites to ensure getting tested is as easy as possible for children.
