The District of Lake Country has put up new signs to warn the public that the Okanagan Rail Corridor hasn’t yet become a recreational trail.
The District is installing signs at Okanagan Rail Corridor access points to remind the public that the trail remains undeveloped and is not routinely maintained. CN still has yet to remove the rails and ties, and there are no motorized vehicles, camping, or fires allowed on the Okanagan Rail Corridor.

“Thank you to residents and visitors alike for responsible stewardship of this new community asset,” says the District of Lake Country. “We all look forward to it being developed for public use as a beautiful recreational trail for walking/hiking and cycling in the future.”
Local governments closed the sale and purchase agreement with CN on June 1st, following the Okanagan Indian Band’s claim being dismissed and a positive referendum result from Lake Country on borrowing funds for the land.
