(Original story: May 6 @ 12:50 p.m.) - The District of Peachland declared a local state of emergency to deal with a landslide at Princeton Ave. and water flowing across Hwy 97.
The state of emergency is a proactive approach that gives crews access to specific private properties to protect public infrastructure.
On May 3, a landslide in Peachland blocked access to Princeton Avenue, closing the road between Columbia Street and Somerset Avenue.
A state of emergency is a measure authorized by the Emergency Program Act. The declaration is valid for a period of seven days until May 13, 2018.
