One of the Central Okanagan’s most popular restaurant and pubs isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
Amid rumours regarding its potential closure, Gasthaus on the Lake in Peachland confirmed to one curious resident that all the rumours are false.
“There have recently been rumours going around the community of Peachland that our business is closing. This, however, could not be further from the truth,” the restaurant told Michelle Reimer.
“This restaurant has been here for the past 30 years and we have no plans to close our doors any time soon.”
Reimer shared the restaurant’s response to her on the Peachland Neighbours Facebook group, where speculation had been running rampant over recent days.
Gasthaus was opened by Werner Fischer and Joerg Hoerath in 1991 before the duo were joined by Devin Smith in 1994.
That trio collaborated to expand the original project and open the beautiful garden and patio space in 2000.
It was sold to new ownership in November 2018, eight months after Fischer passed away from cancer.
While Gasthaus has a full menu of wonderful German food, you can also visit the restaurant with a large group and try out their legendary medieval dinner.
There are multiple courses, but the main event is a massive 150 lbs cast iron pan loaded with ribs, chicken, duck, schnitzel, pork hock, ham and so much more.
With the closing rumours now put to bed, there’s plenty of time to get your best friends together and try one of these legendary group meals if you haven’t already.
