A local brewery proudly represented Kelowna on one of the biggest stages in the world of craft beer.
Jackknife Brewing won a silver medal at the 2026 World Beer Cup in Philadelphia this week.
The North End Kelowna brewery earned its win in the Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer category thanks to its Whiskey Throttle Rye Wine.
It’s not the first notable award for this unique beer, as it also won Jackknife a bronze medal at last year’s Canada Beer Cup in Québec City.

Jackknife was one of just 12 Canadian breweries to leave Philadelphia with a medal and one of just four from British Columbia.
Other BC winners this week were Four Winds Brewing Co. (Delta), Whistler Brewing Co. and Shaketown Brewing (North Vancouver).
The World Beer Cup has been in existence since 1996 and it’s considered “the world’s most prestigious beer and cider competition.”
