Vice & Virtue Brewing Co. unveils a pair of exciting new beers

One of Kelowna’s youngest breweries is certainly doing some innovative things.

Vice & Virtue Brewing Co., which opened in on the outskirts of downtown Kelowna in July, has released a pair of new and exciting beers over the last five days.

The first came out on Friday and it’s called ‘The Royal Decree’, a 4.9% English Ale that the brewery says pays homage to the popular beers of 1930s London.

It has a rich, but mellow flavour that includes restrained notes of chocolate, toffee, toast, malt, dried fruit and marmalade.

“This beer is just the right strength,” says a Facebook post from the brewery. “Not too heavy for summer drinking yet with a sufficient body to satisfy the person who likes a good ale and knows when they get it.

The second of the two new beers was unveiled this afternoon and it’s an exciting one for any beer drinker who fancies themselves a fan of IPAs.

It’s called ‘The Sweet Elena’ and the brewery is classifying it as a Mango Milkshake IPA.

This beer comes in at an impressive 9%, which means you might be feeling a little buzzed after a couple, but it also might be hard to stop drinking.

“A sweet blast of mango hits your tongue, and dissipates into flavours of coconut, guava and citrus,” says another Facebook post from Vice & Virtue, calling the beer a highly crushable IPA.

“Finishing with a clean, assertive bite. Dangerously refreshing. This may be the new brunch beer.”

Both beers have been canned and can be bought at the brewery and certain liquor stores around town.

While The Royal Decree will be on tap soon, The Sweet Elena is already being poured and ready for you to try, but you won’t be able to fill your growler with it.

Vice & Virtue is located 1033 Richter St., part of Kelowna’s growing brewery district.
