Take a hike on the rocky side!

Trail: Rim Rocks

Trail Distance: 6km

Trail Difficulty: Moderate

Description:

The Rim Rock trail is a very unique area, with a one of a kind landscape that everyone should see! From the parking area, the trail took us up an old logging road for approximately 1.5 -kilometres. With the road fairly steep in sections, it definitely gets the heart racing.
We then came to a gate being guarded by cows! With speaking loudly and moving towards them, they were quick to get away from us and cleared the trail for us to continue on. Please make sure to keep the gate closed to leave the cows in their home! With a couple of trail markers in the trees, the trail was easy to follow.

Soon we came to a fantastic view overlooking the Coldstream Valley and towards Vernon! As we continued on, the trail brought us along the ridge and along the Cliffs edge, giving a slight glimpse of the cool rock formations below! Shortly we came to two trail markers in a tree. One pointing right and one pointing left and down. The right trail stays along the ridge giving a great birds-eye-view of the valley and you can even see the tips of the Monashees Mountains in the distance!

The marker pointing left is a little more difficult but definitely worth it! The trail goes straight down to the bottom of the Cliffs. This section is very steep and has little to no grip for footing, proper footwear is definitely important! We held tightly to the fallen trees along the side of the trail to help us get down safely. The last section took us down the side of an old log and through the 'eye of the needle.' This hole was created from a large boulder falling between two large rock spires! Once through the hole, the view opened up to the neverending boulder field that is simply unbelievable! Tucked away hidden in the forest, I never expected to see something this extraordinary!

Formed from old volcanic material, the Rim Rocks have many spires standing 50-60 feet tall! Being a big fan of rocks :)

I was blown away and wanted to see every little section of this area!! There's even a cave on the east side!

We spent quite a bit of time exploring this amazing area before heading back the same way we came in. It is important to be careful on the loose rock in the rock field. Watch your footings!
Remember to always be mindful of your surroundings, pack out what you pack in, stick to the trails and Happy Exploring!
