UPDATE: Nearly half of the 54 laptops stolen from Kamloops elementary school recovered

(UPDATE: Jan. 25 @ 12:15 pm) - Some of the electronics stolen during an overnight break-and-enter at a Kamloops elementary school earlier this month have been recovered.

According to the RCMP, an officer was on patrol on Friday when he received a lead on where he could find some of the Chromebooks recently stolen from Parkcrest Elementary.

The officer later found a plastic bin containing 21 of the computers in a parking lot on the North Shore.

Unfortunately, another 33 Chromebooks remain missing, along with six iPads, a camcorder and other electronics, as a Cst. Crystal Evelyn explained that a further inventory of the school after the break-in revealed that more was stolen than originally thought.

“Obviously, whoever broke in and stole from a school knew they were stealing from kids,”said Evelyn.

“It’s important that anyone who knows who has the outstanding items or who is responsible for the break-ins does the right thing and contacts police as soon as possible.”

Police are urging anyone with information related to this investigation to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
