Female pedestrian struck by motorist in Kamloops on Wednesday

An 18-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a motorist turning while she was crossing Victoria Street in the designated crosswalk on Wednesday night.

She suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

At about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, RCMP, BC Ambulance and Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to the collision at 6th Avenue and Victoria Street in Kamloops. The intersection was closed for a period of time while several emergency vehicles were on the scene. The driver is not being charged with any offence.

The intersection of 6th Avenue and Victoria Street was later re-opened.

The Kamloops RCMP are reminding pedestrians to be vigilant and prepared for drivers who may not see them.

Drivers are reminded to look twice before proceeding with a turn and to be aware of your blind-spots.
