Dive Team Called in to Search for Missing Kelowna Man

A man originally from Kelowna has gone missing in the Golden-Field area of the province and the RCMP is asking for the public’s help.

Taylor Oelrich is from Kelowna but now lives in Edson, Alberta and went missing on Sunday, February 15th. According to friends he was last seen around 4:00 p.m. outside of the lodge they are staying at near the Town of Golden.

Golden and Area Search and Rescue has been called in to search for Oelrich, and with the support of air, ground and dog teams the search has focused on "likely areas."

The local RCMP and search and rescue have now met with the Oelrich family to update them on the outcome of the search, saying they are confident a thorough ground search has been conducted.

Efforts to find Oelrich will now turn to the Columbia River, which runs adjacent to where he was last seen. A member of the RCMP Dive team will arrive in Golden on Tuesday to assess whether an underwater dive can be safely conducted.

The search for the missing man will continue at first light.
