Should everything move forward according to plan, citizens will have another park area to enjoy just in time for Canada Day weekend.
According to City Infrastructure Divisional Director Alan Newcombe, phase two of the Stuart Park expansion project is well underway and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.

“The contractors are in there now and there’s lots of activity going on in the site,” said Newcombe. “They’re already starting to put the concrete down for the various walkways and sidewalks.”
The $1.9 million expansion project will showcase urban waterfront park development with the implementation of lighted trees, shrubs, and a variety of landscaping. A fire pit will also be featured in the newly developed Stuart Park, as a means of enjoyment for the ice skating public during the winter months.
In addition, a number of pathways that connect the park down to the waterfront promenade, and to the existing Stuart Park, will be implemented.
The expansion project was originally slated for completion in May; however, Newcombe said there was a development delay because the City allowed neighbouring Cactus Club contractor to use some of the space while in the construction phase.
