Passengers needing to get to Ontario can rejoice thanks to the beginning of daily flights between Kelowna and Toronto.
The new daily service to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) started on Saturday with Air Canada rouge. The flight from Toronto was packed full, and Kelowna welcomed the passengers in style with a water canon salute. Meanwhile, the outbound flight from YLW, which was also full, had some very happy passengers thanks to cupcakes, a ribbon cutting, and a welcome from the fun rouge crew.

The daily service between Kelowna and Toronto was announced in December, adding 40 per cent additional capacity to the route year over year. The flight is one of the first new domestic routes for the Air Canada rouge service, a leisure airline. The service uses a 136-seat Airbus A319 that has premium and economy cabins with 12 premium seats and 124 rouge.

The previous non-stop Toronto service from YLW was on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through WestJet as well as Saturday and Sunday by Air Canada. Passengers could also get to Toronto by connection flights through Vancouver and Calgary.
Tourism Kelowna was pleased with the new daily service, since they’ve been advertising in the Greater Toronto Area for several years and the new flights come just in time for the Okanagan’s peak tourism season.
