O Christmas Tree! Tree Lighting Dates Announced

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Okanagan! Christmas lights are lining the main streets and Christmas events are starting to pop up all around the city.

The Tree of Hope will light up on November 26th. The metal tree statue, which is located at the Landmark Centre is a visual reminder throughout the winter that the Christmas season is a season of generosity and compassion.

The tree helps support local charities that help empower people in the community. This year funds from the tree will go to The Bridge Youth & Family Services. The lighting will happen at 5:00 p.m.

The West Kelowna annual light up will be taking place on December 4th, starting at 5:00 p.m. Brown Road will be closed off and there will be Christmas carollers, kid’s activities and the new stars will be lit along the streets. The West Kelowna Winter Fest will follow on December 6th. The festival will be at the Mount Boucherie Community Centre between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There will be skating, a pancake breakfast and Santa Claus may even show up.

Downtown Kelowna will be fully lit up on December 5th. The 27th annual Downtown Kelowna Light Up! will get started at 10:00 a.m., with skating, lantern making, story time, crafts, live music and photos with Santa. The lights on the new 20 foot tree in Stuart Park will be turned on at 5:00 p.m.

The Festival of Lights returns to Kelowna on December 5th as well.

If you’re looking for even more Christmas events a tree lighting is happening in Rutland as well. On December 6th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., families can enjoy hot chocolate, candy canes, chili, and Santa at Roxby Square. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 4:30 p.m., on the tree.

Mark your calendars, bundle up, and head out to these Christmas events and enjoy the holiday spirit.
