The suspect of an altercation that took place outside the Kelowna Cactus Club has been identified.
On Friday afternoon Kelowna RCMP confirmed that they have identified a 25-year-old man as the suspect, in the February incident that left one man dead. RCMP previously did not know who the suspect was.
On Feb. 17, Zachary Gaudette of Ontario was injured outside of the Banks Road Cactus Club. Kelowna RCMP were asked to attend the scene at the request of Emergency Health Services. When police arrived Gaudette was found laying outside of the restaurant in medical distress.
The 30-year-old man was treated by paramedics and transferred to hospital. Two days later Gaudette succumbed to his injuries.
The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit is continuing to work with Gaudette’s family as well as the BC Coroners Service. RCMP are now awaiting the results of the autopsy, which was conducted on Gaudette’s body.
Once all evidence has been collected Crown Counsel will then be in the position to make a decision with their consideration for charge approval.
