We now know the name of the man accused of breaking into a Kelowna home and sexually assaulting two women who were asleep in bed.
According to completed court documents, Shea Robert Gardecki, a 39-year-old Peachland, resident is facing two charges of sexual assault and break and enter in relation to the Aug. 23 incident. In a previous report from police, RCMP stated that Gardecki broke into a home in the 1500 block of Highland Drive North and started touching the two women inappropriately.
Police say Gardecki and the victims have no prior relationship and he gained entry into the home through an open door. When the women woke up they confronted the intruder and demanded that he leave.
Gardecki was located with the help of a police dog and witnesses and was taken into custody. According to court documents, he has made his first appearance in Kelowna court and remains in custody. He is expected to appear again in court on Aug 29.
