At 8:45 a.m., a total of 16 personal including rescue and ladder vehicles arrived on the scene of a residence engulfed in flames. Crews reported seeing large flames coming from the rear and out the side of the residence. The residence experienced a significant amount of fire and smoke damage as a result of the fire.

One occupant was home at the time and luckily escaped without injury. The rest of the home’s occupants are now in the care of Emergency Support Services. The original cause of the fire is currently unknown and Kelowna Fire Department’s fire investigators are working on the scene today.

The Kelowna Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms save lives and to test your home’s smoke alarm often.
