An outbreak of gastrointestinal illness has quarantined the 2 West ward at Kelowna General Hospital.
"We have closed the unit to new admissions and we are handling symptomatic patients," said health service administrator Andrew Hughes.
Staff and patients who may have been exposed are currently being cared for in a separate area of the hospital.
"All patients are receiving appropriate care, and we have implemented enhanced cleaning and housekeeping practices above our already robust processes in order to prevent the further spread of illness," said Hughes.
Interior Health staff said gastrointestinal outbreaks like this are relatively common this time of year.
