A man is facing potential charges after a series of criminal offences at a pair of Kelowna hotels.
At 2 a.m. on Saturday, January 21st, the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious occurrence at the Sandman Hotel in the 2100 block of Harvey Ave.
Staff at the hotel had observed a man acting in an irrational manner before he fled.
It’s alleged that the man physically assaulted a hotel security guard, pulled the building’s fire alarm and then stole a fire extinguisher.
While police were responding to the initial incident at the Sandman Hotel, they received further reports that the man was then smashing out glass at the neighbouring Ramada Hotel.
At the Ramada Hotel, he allegedly pulled that building’s fire alarm as well and used the stolen fire extinguisher.
“Kelowna RCMP safely took the suspect into police custody, with the assistance of a police service dog and an off duty RCMP officer, of Northern BC, staying at the hotel,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “A search of the suspect incidental to his arrest yielded suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia.”
The suspect is a 33-year-old Kelowna man with no fixed address who is expected to appear in court today. He faces several potential charges.
