RCMP are working to find suspects in what they believe was a targeted shooting in Kelowna.
On February 28th, 2017 at about 6 p.m., RCMP were called after a man checked himself into the Emergency Room at Kelowna General Hospital with injuries consistent with being shot.
RCMP went to the hospital and found a vehicle believed to be associated to the victim, in the drop off area, with visible damage consistent with being involved in a shooting.
The victim, a man in his 20's, remains in hospital at this time, and is receiving treatment for his injuries.
Kelowna RCMP have identified and secured a second location, in the general area of Sexsmith Road and Pinto Road, which they believe to be related to the shooting.
"The investigation is in its early stages," said Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey. "However, preliminary information suggests that this was not a random attack.
“Police do not believe that the public is in any risk."
The Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), supported by both the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), has now assumed conduct of the ongoing investigation.
RCMP are asking anyone who may have heard anything suspicious earlier this evening in the area of Sexsmith Road and Pinto Road, or may have any information at all, to contact the Kelowna RCMP GIS at 250-762-3300.
