As we mourn the indefinite loss of our beloved HMV, Kelowna music lovers may also rejoice as news from Sunrise Records has come!
The Orchard Park, HMV location will be taken over by the all Canadian music company and with it will come some pretty exciting changes.
In late February, the company announced it will be taking over 70 brick and mortar HMV locations come April, and it was announced Thursday that Kelowna and Burnaby are two more lucky locations.
Just in time for National Record Store Day (RSD) on April 22nd, the new locations will be open and with them comes even more music magic.
In addition to supporting RSD events, the stores will carry over 2,000 titles of vinyl in stock at all locations, expand their CD selection by 50% as well as broaden their apparel section in order to keep us music fanatics happy.
Not only will they broaden the selection of the big names but local stores will also carry the music from local musicians.
“We want to support independent Canadian artists more than ever. We feel it’s an obligation, not to mention we love discovering talented new artists.” said Sunrise Records president, Doug Putman.
Have no fear pop culture, sci-fi and comic lovers, the store will still carry all the fixins to make you happy along with more apparel, plushies, board games and licensed figures.
If this doesn’t have you giddy and eager, I don’t know what will!
As for HMV, we thank you for your years of service to those of us who fan girl a little too hard over our favorite bands and movie franchises. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
