Just before 8 am this morning, Kelowna RCMP received reports that a man in his 70’s was missing from his home.
He was believed to be on a walk, but it was deemed highly out of character for the elderly man.
Police conducted an extensive search of the area with the help of the RCMP Police Dog Service, RCMP Air Services and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue.
RCMP then located the man deceased in Okanagan Lake near Strathcona Park.
“Foul play is not suspected and the BC Coroners Service along with the Kelowna RCMP General Duty are leading the investigation,” states Cst. Mike DELLA-PAOLERA of the Kelowna RCMP.
“The RCMP are saddened by this tragic outcome and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.”
Members of his family have been notified and Victim Services are engaged in supporting them during this time.
