Kelowna cat lovers were treated to the purrfect afternoon as the local BC SPCA branch hosted a pop-up cat cafe.
The event came to be due to the SPCA partnering with the Okanagan Cat Coalition, local fosters and what will soon be Kelowna’s first cat cafe, The Scratching Post.
Not only does the cafe allow notorious cat snugglers to get their fix in the cuddle corner, but offers an opportunity for a fresh start to these furry bundles of love.
The addition of a cat cafe in the Okanagan will hopefully lead to more adoptions, less crowding in the shelters and less felines on the street based on the success of the cafes in Vancouver and Washington.
Of the 35 cats available for adoption, 12 had already been taken home by 2 p.m., while the others were getting loads of attention.
The Scratching Post is set to open sometime next spring, with another pop-up event in the works for Janurary.
