Bernard Avenue to transform into pedestrian paradise for 'Meet me on Bernard' this summer

Bernard Avenue is going to be quite the party this summer as the street is getting ready to transform into a pedestrian's paradise.

According to Kelowna City Council and the Downtown Kelowna Association, four blocks of Bernard avenue will be closed to vehicles this summer to make room for art, games, music and more for "Meet me on Bernard."

From July 1 to Sept. 5, the event will see the road closed starting at the Sails and ending at St Paul.

This event will see at least 21 restaurants extend their patios. Multiple performances from buskers and local talent will also take place.

The Kelowna Farmer's Market will be set up on the 400 and 500 blocks of Bernard Avenue. Street games such as chess, giant checkers, and Jenga will be available for all who have that competitive spirit.

As of now, the City's budget for the event is $25,000. DKA and Tourism Kelowna will provide substantial staff time and financial contributions through their own related budgets.
