C.O.G Day 2 turns up the action

Day two of Center of Gravity turned things up a notch. Deemed the hottest beach festival for a reason, C.O.G lived up to its name on Saturday with a jam-packed day filled with sports, a vendor's village and of course, a wild line up of rap and EDM artists.

Though you probably didn’t crawl out of bed until 1 p.m. today following Friday’s insanity, C.O.G was ready to welcome early birds with open arms at 9 a.m.

One of the coolest things about Center of Gravity isn’t just their stacked music line-up’s, but their emphasis on extreme sports and just athletics in general.

Known for showcasing the best of the best in freestyle motocross, attendees swarmed the gates just to get a look at these daredevils on two wheels.

When you weren’t watching these death defying stunts, you were probably in the urban zone taking in the gnarliness of the BMX and skateboarding Best Trick Competition.

These ruthless athletes weren’t just demonstrating a simple kick flip, but flying off ramps, dropping 12 feet off of shipping containers and grinding rails for days.

A definite sight to see is the annual bikini contest hosted at the beach stage, a long standing tradition for C.O.G and a crowd favourite.

By 4 p.m. the grounds were flooded with people who were amped up for yet another night of stellar music, courtesy of some of the hottest rappers in the game and some EDM giants.

Starting things off with funk-fueled, grooves was the electronic, dance duo, Skiitour. Feeding off the energy of an eager crowd, Skiitour delivered a killer warm-up set, perfect for getting the crowd going.

The first hip-hop act of the day was Canadian rapper, Merkules. No stranger to C.O.G, Merkules has been lighting up the beach stage for the past few years. 2017 marked his first time on the main stage and it was a magical moment for all.

Though his set was only 20 minutes, the man managed to get the crowd moshing with his rage soaked rhymes that were backed by heavy trap beats, making him the perfect predecessor for the dream team union known as Ephwurd.

Hometown boy, Datsik and his partner in music, Baise Hause, joined forces to create Ephwurd in 2015. Today they brought their EDM brain child to the C.O.G main stage.

Mixing everything from Cascada to Nirvana into their heavier, dubstep-like sound, these dudes know just how to bring the hype.

From super soakers to bringing fans onstage, Ephwurd made their love of Kelowna more than apparent and Kelowna reciprocated that love by dancing, moshing and head banging throughout the entirety of their set.

Up next came highly anticipated performer, Lil Dicky. A show where people weren’t really sure what to expect, Lil Dicky's humour, wit and let's be honest awkwardly adorable demeanor, left the crowd equally as curious as they were excited.

Between rapping at breakneck speeds and offering to expose himself, Lil Dicky's set was both lit and hilarious as he played all of his biggest hits.

Taking the time to even learn our national anthem and to actually have a conversation with his fans between songs, Lil Dicky won the hearts of all and instantly became a C.O.G favourite on his first visit to Kelowna.

Finally, for the moment we all were waiting for, the real OG, Snoop Dogg was about to make dreams come true. After toying with our emotions for what seemed like ages, the one and only d-o-double-g came out from the hazy side stage to be met by cheers that could be heard from West Kelowna.

Gold, diamond encrusted mic in hand, Snoop showed that he really is a P-I-M-P.

Gifting us with a set list that ranged from his latest tracks all the way back to the 90’s he more than delivered just a casual festival set.

A performance that no doubt was responsible for many of the tickets sold, Snoop Dogg is more than just a rapper, he is a legend, so having him in town was nothing short of amazing and he seemed to be just as happy as we were to be there. “I could be anywhere in the world tonight, but I chose to be here with you, in Kelowna, BC”

With thousands of attendees standing shoulder to shoulder, it really is no doubt that Snoop Dogg knows how to pack a bowl. From start to finish the crowd ebbed and flowed like an angry sea, not slowing up once during his hour-long set.

Extreme sports, edm all-stars and hip-hop icons, you could say that Day 2 of C.O.G made everyone #turnup.
