Denim on the Diamond returns to Kelowna this fall with an exciting and diverse lineup

Denim on the Diamond is back!

The popular single-day music festival will return to King’s Stadium in downtown Kelowna this fall after taking 2020 off due to COVID-19.

It all goes down Saturday, Oct. 2 from noon until 11 pm and this year’s lineup has something for everyone.

Hunter Brothers will headline the event, giving Denim on the Diamond an exciting act to close out the night that will draw country fans from across the region and beyond.

The five real-life brothers have quickly become one of Canada’s hottest country music acts, backed by gold records, number one hits, Juno nominations and a world-class live performance.

JJ Wilde, Yukon Blonde, Moontricks, The Royal Foundry, Shawnee Kish and locals DJ Invizible and Teigen Gayse round out the 2021 lineup.

“We’ve always had a vision of Denim stepping outside of being a traditional one genre music festival,” explained Mitch Carefoot, who co-founded the festival with Kurt Jory.

“This year we have the most diverse line-up to date including JJ Wilde, indie alternative bands Yukon Blonde and The Royal Foundry, blues-folk-EDM fused Moontricks and one of Canada’s top Country musical acts, the Hunter Brothers.”

JJ Wilde is an emerging name on the Canadian rock scene and she won the Juno for Rock Album of the Year in June. In early 2022, she'll hit the road as the opening act for The Glorious Sons.

Yukon Blonde is a name that Okanagan music fans will know, as the indie rock band formed in Kelowna more than a decade ago and has established itself across Canada since then.

Moontricks may be a name you’d expect at Shambhala over Denim on the Diamond, but the duo will have the King’s Stadium crowd dancing with their spirited live performance.

The Royal Foundry, a band anchored by a husband and wife duo from Edmonton, has opened for Twenty One Pilots and July Talk in the past and will certainly gain some new fans in Kelowna this fall.

Shawnee Kish was the winner of CBC’s Searchlight 2020 talent competition and the fierce up-and-comer has already shared the stage with names like Lady Gaga, Madonna and Alicia Keys.

With popular local acts DJ Invizible and Teigen Gayse on the bill as well, it’s bound to be a fun day at King’s Stadium in October.

But it’s not just about the music at Denim on the Diamond though and there will be plenty of fun activities, games, food trucks and drinks to enjoy at the ball diamond that day.

With live music being put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s safe to say that the mood will be jovial come the first Saturday in October.

“During this difficult year and a half, one thing that became very apparent is our collective need for community and social connection,” said Jory.

“Our goal is to create a space where everyone is welcome, everyone feels safe and we’re able to celebrate overcoming the hardships the pandemic has brought to people.”

Jory promised that the 2021 edition of Denim on the Diamond will be “a party to remember, that’s for sure.”
