Drug trafficking probe leads to search warrants being executed in the Central Okanagan

On June 2-3, the Kelowna RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit executed a series of coordinated search warrants across Kelowna and West Kelowna.

The operation was supported by the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and specialized investigative units from the Kelowna detachment. The enforcement action was the culmination of a months-long investigation.

The investigation focused on disrupting and dismantling a significant drug trafficking network operating within the community.

Over the two-day initiative, officers searched five residences and seized approximately five kilograms of suspected illicit drugs, $55,000 in Canadian currency, and an estimated $230,000 worth of high-end jewellery and luxury fashion items. Investigators also seized four vehicles believed to be connected to the criminal activity.

Officers also seized approximately 15 kilograms of a substance commonly used as a cutting agent to dilute fentanyl for street-level distribution, further demonstrating the scope of the drug trafficking operation.

As part of the operation, three individuals were arrested and several others were detained. All have since been released as the investigation continues.

“The success of this operation reflects the proactive, ongoing efforts of the Kelowna Drugs and Organized Crime Unit,” said Staff Sergeant Desmond Kiehlbauch. “We remain focused on disrupting mid- to high-level drug traffickers and organized crime groups to reduce the significant harm they cause in our community.”

Investigators are preparing disclosure materials for submission to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada for charge assessment.

The investigation remains ongoing.
