While it may not feel like the most natural fit, they are both technically called football!
The City of Kelowna recently announced that there will be a FIFA World Cup watch party at Waterfront Park on Thursday, July 2.
It will be held as part of Touchdown Kelowna, which means people can take a break from what we know as football to watch what Europeans call football.

The free, all-ages event will stream FIFA World Cup action from Toronto and Vancouver on the stage at Waterfront Park, with the two games kicking off at 4 pm and 8 pm on July 2.
The 4 pm game from Toronto will feature the second-place finishers in Groups K and L – likely Croatia against Portugal or Colombia.
The 8 pm game from Vancouver will feature a third-place team against the winner of Group B, which will be Canada if they're able to beat or draw Switzerland this week.

“We’re thrilled to include the World Soccer Watch Party as part of the slate of Touchdown Kelowna Festival programming,” said Sarah Semeniuk, Kelowna’s event services supervisor
“While we hope Canada’s still in it, regardless, this is going to be an incredible way for fans to come together, feel the energy of the World Cup and celebrate global football right here in Kelowna.”
Marc Dermott from Sun FM will host the event, which will feature food trucks and alcohol sales on site. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating.
